Announcement + Correction

I’ve been getting a lot of feedback about the contest from people who are just outside the Chippewa Valley area and really wanting to enter. So, I think opening it up to a wider area isn’t a bad idea.

Starting NEXT year (it was previously announced that the change was coming this year – that’s not true it will be for future contests) there will be a new contest that is more internet based opened up to a MUCH larger area with sponsors that are not region specific.

The Women of the Valley photo contest will continue as a woman only contest for those residing in the Chippewa Valley as long as feedback says there’s still an interest for it!

It’s Time!

It’s finally time to start entering the contest! And this year it’s a nice and easy form that let’s you submit and pay all at the same time so there’s no need to send any e-mails after you’re done.

Head on over to the enter page and send us your photos!

The other thing that’s changing this year is that if your submission does not follow the rules I really will not accept it. Last year I let quite a few submissions slide because it was a new contest and it ended up leading to some headaches so this year make sure your photographs follow the rules or they won’t get included in the contest and you won’t get your money back. I know it seems harsh but it’s a lot of extra work if people don’t play by the rules.

These are the photo rules:

Your file name should be in the form of Photographers Name_Name of Photo.jpg

Your photograph should not have any copyright or watermark information on it – feel free to include it in the meta data if you wish but there should be nothing visible so judging can be anonymous. You retain full copyright of your image and it will not be posted (with exception of private judging gallery) without credit.

Your photo should not have excessive ‘photoshopping’ such as selective color, extreme saturation/color, added blur and vignette effects, text overlays or obvious photo manipulation.

The photo must be taken by the person entering the contest, if under 18 it can be submitted by a parent or guardian with the name of the child who took it.

As you can see the site has had some work done. More than just a facelift it now has better functionality and ways for you to with social networks! hint, hint

In other news, the next date for the contest has been announced, September 1st! And we’ve added some new sponsors and a new judge to the line-up.
